Welcome to CPR Training

at

Southbridge

Grand Lake Lodge & Spa

This training program can make Southbridge one of
the most heart-safe communities in the world.

Each of us has more than a 10% chance of seeing at least one relative, friend, or acquaintance have a sudden cardiac arrest in our lifetime. If all we do is call 911, the victim has a one in twenty chance of getting out of the hospital with major brain functions intact. But if we call 911 and immediately begin chest compressions, the victim's chance of survival goes up dramatically.

Treatment of a cardiac arrest cannot wait for the ambulance.

Because you cannot perform CPR on yourself and because 66% of all cardiac arrests occur at home, it is very important that more than one person in each household be trained. The same holds true for golf foursomes.

SLICC will be teaching CPR at the Grand Lodge and Spa as shown in the schedule below. If enough interest exists, these courses will be repeated.

Please do not assume that you know what to do if you have taken a CPR course sometime before. We're not worried about your memory: resuscitation science changed significantly in 2008 and in 2010. It will likely change again soon.

Even if you hold a current certification in CPR, you still need to know Bystander skills. Bystander CPR includes some material that has not yet appeared in the curriculum of certificated CPR classes, because the content of those courses is driven by the guidelines that are released in years ending in a "5" or a "0".

This couse is not a substitute for certificated training if your employer requires a certificate. If you hold a current Red Cross or American Heart Association CPR Certificate, you should renew that certification with the Red Cross (912-651-5323) or with Rescue Training (912-692-8911) (AHA training). If you are considering employment that would require certification, you should contact one of the above organizations for certificated training.

Becasue of the tremendous response to this program, there will one or more classes scheduled in the future. If there are no available slots left, simply send an email to info@slicc.org and we will let you know when another class is scheduled.
